Mums Mate is an new app for your iPhone or iPad, for new Mums.

A means of recording feeds, nappy changes and naps all of which can give clues as to a young baby’s well-being and development in the early weeks.  Sections include:  Breast Feeding, Bottle Feeding, Weaning, Nappy Changes, Sleep Times, Vital Statistics, Development Checker.

As the creator says - Mum's Mate... Well, it came to me out of my own experience. After the birth of my son I rudely discovered that not all my carefully laid out plans were going to come to fruition. Breastfeeding for one was an emotional roller-coaster. It was an uphill battle which brought on tears, feelings of failure and desperation. I took my notebook everywhere to record every millilitre of milk expressed, the times of feeds, duration... Eventually I came to terms with the fact that formula and breast were going to have to share the job! It is incredible how time-consuming a new little one is. It's incomparably rewarding but 'free time' becomes a myth. I couldn't believe how many little milestones I had lost track of by the time I sat down to write them in my son's development diary...

It was these two experiences in particular which lead to my idea for an application on my phone (which I always had with me - it was my link to the outside world in the early weeks when going out is a tad overwhelming!). A quick way to track feeds (formula, breast, both!) and a quick way to record a milestone to refer back to later (tooth number 4 on 6 September!). The other items developed from these two ideas and from suggestions received from other mums.
