Horrific goings on
Ihave to write something as i've gone on enough to hubby and surrounding family about how I cannot believe the sad, sorry, disgraceful, disturbing stories unfortunately taking place in the world. What the hell is going on? stories of babies in freezers and found in boxes in attics, stories of neglect and abuse, obviously the shocking death of the poor 7 year old girl at the hands of her own 'mother'-(was hard to type that word).I know the world is often sadly a hard and cruel place, and since the beginning of written records there have always been shocking events reported regarding children-but is there no love or compassion anymore? How in the 21st century are such things happening-or people getting away with such horrors? When did 'turning a blind eye' become 'turn your back and pretend you didn't notice?'Sad topic I know but lets hope for some positivity soon-and pray those poor children are at peace now.

Something we could do
Hi Lorraine I totally agree with you and wish that there was just something that we(I) could do personally to help towards preventing these situations! There was a time when these atrocities seemed to occur only in far flung places but now it's in the UK too...horrific! I feel for our children too, what kind of world are they going to grow up in!?!

I have to chip in
Hi Im new here but felt I had to chip in here. I have a gorgeous little boy who is very poorly with epilepsy, 5 years nearly now. He falls to the ground lots and has learning issues now too. 4 years ago when I was pregnant with my 2nd son and was strugghling to cope with it all, we were assigned a social worker from the children with disabilities team and I feel that the service we get it terrible. We hear from her once a year just to sign the forms! No community support whatsoever. Before our son was poorly I paid my taxes thinking that in this country the most vulnerable children in society were looked after by the social care system. I DO NOT now. Parents really have to scream and shout to get heard and get help. Of course those neglecting their children arent to do that. It doesn't surprise me one bit when these cases of neglect go unnoticed. It all boils down to money at the end of the day. It is VERY sad that these social workers sit in their offices..not knowing what is going on with the children in their care :( Right soap box away now! P
