Nappy Whisperer

I read an article in the Guardian a few months ago about women in developing countries who can't afford nappies or have enough water to endlessly wash them, toilet training their babies way earlier than we do in the west. Has anybody come across anyone who has done this? (Annoyingly I can't find the article on the guardian website.) Laura

Infant Potty Training

It's called infant potty training, or elimination communication.... there are LOADS of booking written on the topic, and it really is BRILLIANT! I did it with my daugher (now 2 1/2) and everyone is still so amazed... Along with breastfeeding, I think it contributed to our massively strong bond and open and honest relationship... even now in her "terrible twos". Hope that helps! Antonia

Me too!

I agree, my mum said that all four of us were potty trained by 18 months which made life a lot easier. I tried it out and put my daughter on the potty from 1 yr, especially when I could tell she needed a poo! She was great, and when I produced a potty would generally oblige, however, we moved house and I lost the focus. It was easier to just put another disposable nappy on...but if I had stuck with it I honestly believe she would have been potty trained around 18 mths (in the day!)

Potty trained at 18 months

I read this article too. My mum says I was potty trained in the day at 18 months although wasn't dry at night until I was about 3. I think maybe we leave it too late these days because disposables are so easy. Don't know anyone who's written a book about it though.
