Escape for a weekend of wine and decadence at the new Hotel TerraVina in the beautiful New Forest. Founded by Gerard Basset, who set up the Hotel du Vin group, the hotel has just 11 rooms, each one individually designed and with roll-top bath and internet (if you really have to work). Some have their own gardens or terraces. The hotel is intimate, warm and welcoming, with an open kitchen and wood-burning stove. It's eco-friendly, too, with as much as possible sourced from the surrounding New Forest, including lavender in the bathroom goodies.

Best of all, though, is the wine. Gerard is a Master of Wines and multiple award-winning sommelier and the list has over 300 wines to choose between, to accompany freshly cooked, locally produced food.
