In Season October - Figs

Next time you are filling your trolley with the usual apples, oranges and bananas pop some figs in there too. They make a really nutritious and filling snack for adults and children and taste great sliced into quarters drizzled with some runny honey then roasted and served with a dollop of mascarpone or crème fraiche (And they're a great addition to an after-dinner cheese board too instead of the usual bunch of grapes).
Nutritionally they are hard to beat too - bursting with minerals, potassium, manganese and iron, they also contain vitamins A, B and C and plenty of fibre helping to maintain a healthy digestive system.
