25 Years of My Little Pony

When we think back to 1983, the cinemas were showing Return of the Jedi, Superman 3 and Flash Dance. On the small screen The Bill was aired for the first time and in the charts Michael Jackson was number one with BIlly Jean.

1983 also heralded the release of a iconic toy which continues to grow in popularity and range innovation, making it as relevant today as it was when it launched in 1983 - My Little Pony.

Maybe you played with My Little Pony when you were a child, or perhaps you have a little girl who plays with modern day My Little Pony, and you wouldn't be alone. 50 million Ponies have been sold worldwide, laid end to end, they would stretch from London to New York or cover the distance of the Great Wall of China!

Celebrity fans of My Little Pony are joining in the birthday celebrations by revealing how much they loved Pony as a child - and how Pony is still part of their lives now they are mums themselves.

TV presenter Gail Porter, said: "Happy 25th Ponies! My Little Pony is undoubtedly a cult brand that is here to stay! I loved My Little Pony as a child and my daughter Honey now plays with them at home."

Gorgeous model and TV personality Nell McAndrew, said: "My Little Pony is as cute today as it has always been, here's to another 25 years! It is great to have a toy that truly allows children to use their imaginations and simply play!"

More celebrities will be backing Pony later in the year with "The My Little Pony Project: 25 Ponies for 25 Years." International influencers including celebrities, fashion designers, artists and of course the fans, have been asked to design a collection of 25 one-of-a-kind My Little Pony 18-inch figures. In September, the project will culminate in a gallery exhibition in New York City where the collection will be on display in its entirety for the very first time. The entire collection will be available for auction, with proceeds going to Give Kids The World.
